Tanguy Ndombele's Premier League debut for Tottenham Hotspur was a tale of two halves.
Tottenham's record signing seemed to struggle early on against Aston Villa.
He was guilty of losing possession and his efforts on goal were tame.
This led rival fans to drastically over react, with some writing the former Lyon ace off after just 45 minutes of football.

All this hype for Ndombele and he's being outplayed by McGinn— Ché (@UtdChe) August 10, 2019
If you think I’m gonna call Ndombele a fraud who looks like he’s got two left feet before I’ve even seen Pepe play - your absolutely correct. I know it’s early days but this guy looks like another Bakayoko.#ndombele #spurs— UpTheArse (@UptheArsenal__) August 10, 2019
Ndombele improved drastically in the second half, silencing his critics.
He scored Tottenham's equaliser, with an impressive shot from outside the box.
This gave him the extra confidence he might have needed, and his contribution helped Tottenham go on to record a 3-1 win over Aston Villa.
The criticism was clearly ill thought out, but it also highlights the extra pressure Ndombele is under due to his price tag.
It's unlikely he will let it bother him, and the way he lifted his game and quickly adapted in the second half was so encouraging for Tottenham.
