Leeds United youngster Mateusz Bogusz is considered to be one of the best prospects at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Mateusz Bogusz is very close to breaking into Leeds United’s first-team set-up.

Bogusz is regarded as one of the brightest youth-team players currently breaking through at Leeds, and the attacking midfielder was included in Bielsa’s first-team squad over pre-season.

Bogusz never looked overawed playing in Leeds’ first-team and even scored in a friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers.

With Bielsa expected to make changes to his team ahead of Leeds’ match against Salford City in the Carabao Cup last night there has been some suggestions that the Polish youth international could start.

And Bielsa has hinted that Bogusz is now very close to making the breakthrough at Leeds.

“He will be inside of the group. He has showed his skills. Now he’s very close to the team, but he has to develop a lot of things yet,” Bielsa said.

“One thing is to have the capabilities to play in the team, it is another to show this.”

Bogusz is still only 17, so there are great hopes for his future at Elland Road.

It is thought that Leeds could make a sizeable number of alterations to their team tomorrow, when they take on League Two side Salford, with Bielsa’s side’s main priority the Championship.
