It's time to check in with the Disney villains once again.
Disney is living the dream in 2019!
As highlighted by Forbes, the recent remake of The Lion King has reached $1.334 billion at the worldwide box office. We all expected it would be big, but that's absolutely crazy, setting a new record for Disney outside of their Marvel and Star Wars output.
To say they're having a big year would be an understatement, and with The Rise of Skywalker headed to cinemas this winter, it's about to get a whole lot bigger. Over on the small screen, they're also delivering the goods, with the highly anticipated Descendants 3 arriving on the Disney Channel to thrill fans.
Disney presents Descendants 3!
You could say that Descendants is for those who want it all.
Comedy? Gotcha. Action? You bet. Music? You get the picture... it's a wide world of fantasy and magic, with the ability to entertain kids and, indeed, the big kid in us all.
Kenny Ortega is back to conclude the trilogy with what many devoted Disney Channel fans are saying is the most exhilarating and touching instalment yet. Again, this unique take on the Disney Princess series sees us centre upon the teenagers of numerous Disney-villains, with their own battles and hardships.
The series began in 2015 and demand for a sequel pretty much hit instantly, meaning Descendants 2 was headed for 2017 and fast. It received a much bigger release than the first and boom, the merchandise was everywhere and Disney had clearly found a new property to treasure.
Descendants 3 on DVD
It's finally getting its UK premiere on the Disney Channel this coming October, but little else is known by the way of specific dates.
It's already screened in the US, and actually, the DVD is currently available to buy over at Amazon for $14.96. Due to the distance, the website forewarns that shipping can, unfortunately, take two to five weeks. So, if you're in a hurry it's not exactly ideal; you'll also need a multi-region of region 1 player.
As for a UK DVD release, there isn't one just yet. However, considering the US physical release followed in the immediate wake of the TV premiere, perhaps we could see the DVD receive an October release over here. There's no sign of it on Amazon yet, but we'll be sure to keep our eyes peeled and update as soon as details are in.
Who's in the cast?
Dove Cameron, Booboo Stewart, Sofia Carson, China Anne McClain and more are all back to star in the continuing story of the powerful descendants.
They turn in praised performances, but it's the late Cameron Boyce which steals the show. He reprised the role of Carlos, and the film is actually dedicated to the beloved actor, serving as a heartfelt farewell for adoring fans. Cameron's tragic passing on Saturday, July 6th 2019 at the age of twenty was heartbreaking, and since then, many tributes have flooded in on social media and beyond.
The joy he's given the world through his work and warmth is eternal.
