The left-back left Celtic for Arsenal on Thursday.
Celtic skipper Scott Brown has suggested that Hoops fans should have celebrated Kieran Tierney’s exit to Arsenal by partaking in a street party, just like Ajax fans do when their young talents leave for bigger and better things, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
The 22-year-old was absolutely brilliant for Celtic, but his time at Parkhead came to end when he moved to the Gunners for £25 million on transfer deadline day.
Some Hoops fans were annoyed that Tierney left their club for Arsenal, however.
In the cold light of day though, who can begrudge the Scotland international a dream move to the Premier League?
And Brown suggested that Celtic fans should have celebrated the left-back’s time at the club, rather than bemoan the fact that he left, as quoted by the Daily Mail:
“He has supported Celtic all the way through, he has not cost the club a penny and we have sold him for £25million. For me personally, it should be a fairy-tale story. When you look at Ajax and other teams like that, when they sell players that have come through the youth and given so much to the club, they have a big, massive party on the street and all the fans come out and cheer.”
Tierney is a real talent, and he will undoubtedly go on to become a real success in north London. And after some time, Celtic fans will surely come to the realisation that the 22-year-old couldn’t possibly have turned down the opposition to play for one of the biggest clubs in England.
