Arsenal fans on Twitter slate Henrikh Mkhitaryan's performance

The Armenian incurred the wrath of Arsenal fans on Sunday.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan chose a horrible time to have a mare for Arsenal.

The Armenia international was arguably the Gunners' worst player at St James' Park on Sunday as Unai Emery's side kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win at Newcastle.

Mkhitaryan, who joined Arsenal 18 months ago, had a dreadful first half and lost possession more than any other player on the pitch, in addition to missing a gilt-edged chance to fire the visitors ahead.

It couldn't have been a worse time for him to post a disappointing display.

Emery has just spent £72 million on bringing Nicolas Pepe to North London and the Ivorian, like Mkhitaryan, is a right winger.

A solid performance from the former Manchester United ace would've at least given the Spanish manager food for thought, and illustrated that he was ready to challenge Pepe for first-team honours.

But Pepe won't have much problem dislodging the 30-year-old, and here's what Arsenal fans on Twitter thought about his performance.
