Leeds United reportedly won't be able to renew an interest in the Argentine in January.

It was an okay end to the transfer window for Leeds United, but it could've been a lot better.

The Whites snapped Eddie Nketiah and Illan Meslier on season-long loans from Arsenal and Lorient respectively, but a couple more deals didn't materialise.

Trying again in January seemed the most logical step forward but, according to reports in Italy, that won't be an option.

Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that the Argentine is set to join Belgian outfit Sint Truiden on loan for the 2019-20 campaign, meaning that a winter move to Leeds isn't going to be on the cards.

United were also expected to sign his team-mate Ryan Nolan, but FC Inter News added that the Irish defender 'backed out' of a switch to Elland Road upon learning that he'd be loaned to Kilmarnock this season.

A double deal would've cost the English side close to £10 million, but time will tell whether Leeds regret missing out on both.

Marcelo Bielsa's side have picked up four points from a possible six in the Championship so far.
