The Arsenal signing made his eagerly-anticipated debut today.
Nicolas Pepe had a relatively subdued debut for Arsenal this afternoon.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the only goal on a day where Arsenal fans were hopeful of seeing some of their summer additions, but none of them were included in Unai Emery's first XI.
Dani Ceballos, Pepe and Gabriel Martinelli all had second-half cameos, though the Ivorian winger, who cost a club-record £72 million, was the star attraction but he seemed to struggle with the intensity.
Nevertheless, it was his first-ever game in England, and Aubameyang says that there's plenty more to come from the former Lille star if his training-ground heroics are anything to go by.
He told Arsenal's official website: "I’m looking forward to it, because he’s a really great player. He’s already shown in training that he’s capable of doing great things with us. Hopefully he will start soon."
It's promising that Pepe is looking sharp at London Colney, but he will have to start doing it on the pitch eventually.
Of course it would be ridiculous to make concrete assessments on him based off today's performance, but with a great price-tag comes great responsibility and pressure to perform and hopefully for Arsenal, he can handle the expectancy.
