Netflix’s Wu Assassins has just dropped but will the series be getting a second season?

To keep the subscribers rolling in, especially in an ever more competitive field, Netflix has been producing some truly fascinating and unique content to keep its streaming service at the pinnacle of the industry.

In recent months we’ve seen the likes of The Umbrella Academy, Maniac and Sex Education appear on the streaming service, all of which have provided something new and unique, unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Coupled with that are the continuing popular series such as Black Mirror, Stranger Things and most recently the new season of Orange Is the New Black returning for new seasons.

Hoping to join the ever-growing list of successful Netflix originals is the brand new Wu Assassins which dropped on the streaming service on August 8th, 2019.

What is Wu Assassins about?

Wu Assassins tells the story of a seemingly normal San Francisco Chinatown chef who is bestowed with the mysterious powers of the Wu Assassins, a group of ancient monks who sacrificed themselves so that one day a chosen warrior could restore balance to the troubled world of the Chinese triads.

The series looks set to feature plenty of super-slick action, almost akin to what we’ve seen in the rip-roaring John Wick trilogy. Couple that with a mysterious tale of gangs and a mysterious all-powerful warrior and Netflix have got an interesting prospect on their hands.

Who’s in Wu Assassins?

Taking on the starring role in the new Netflix original is Iko Uwais, who plays the show’s main character Kai Jin. The martial arts performer embarked on his acting career back in 2009’s Merantau but has since risen to become one of Indonesia’s biggest stars even earning himself a role in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

He is joined primarily by Katheryn Winnick who takes on the role of Christine ‘C.G.’ Gavin in the series. The Canadian actress began her acting career at the turn of the millennium and has since gone on to appear in the likes of Amazon Prime’s Vikings, 2017’s The Dark Tower and even had a voice role in Call of Duty: WWII.

Is Wu Assassins returning for a second season?

As the series has only just dropped on Netflix, there is no news yet as to whether Wu Assassins will be returning for a second season.

The only way the show will continue to run on the streaming service is whether or not it gets the viewing figures.

Therefore, if you’ve really enjoyed the show and want it to return, you better get spreading the word in the hopes that it becomes popular enough to survive.

In the meantime, season one of Wu Assassins dropped on Netflix on August 8th, 2019 and is available to stream now.
