Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers and Leeds United were linked with Liverpool winger Ryan Kent.
Ryan Kent at Rangers
According to STV, Leeds in the Championship in England wanted to sign Kent from Premier League club Liverpool in the summer transfer window, and so did Rangers.
However, with the summer transfer window in England closing on Thursday, the Whites have missed the chance to bring the 22-year-old winger to Elland Road.
Kent spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Rangers from Liverpool and played well for the Gers.
Rangers manager and Liverpool legend Gerrard has revealed that he spoke to the Reds this season and tried to bring Kent on loan, but he failed as the Reds do not want to send him out on loan again.
Gerrard told The Daily Record about Kent: “I don’t think it is a secret we tried to get Ryan Kent to return. Liverpool knew how much wanted the player to come back.
“But I was told a week ago by Jurgen Klopp that he wouldn’t be going out on loan, so I respect that decision. We checked again a couple of days ago.
“I spoke to the technical director Michael Edwards. He made it very clear, again, that it wouldn’t be happening so we had to move in a different direction.”

Missing out
Kent is a very good winger, and the Liverpool youngster would have been a very good signing for Rangers or Leeds in the summer transfer window.
With competition for places in the Reds’ starting lineup fierce, the 22-year-old will struggle for playing time at Anfield this season.
