The Black Desert Online beta for PS4 has finally arrived, but does it or the main game boast cross-platform play with Xbox One?
The PlayStation 4 beta for Black Desert Online has finally arrived and it’s available to play until August 13 with the added benefits you can discover here. The fantasy title is one of the best MMOs to have risen in the past decade, and that’s mostly thanks to its action oriented combat, its spectacular visuals, and its famous character creation suite. However, with the title having already been released on Xbox One and PC, does or will the game support cross-platform play?
In order to participate in the Black Desert Online PS4 beta, you simply need to download it from the PlayStation Store. And no, you don’t need a PS Plus subscription to enjoy the free trial.
Saying that, you will need a PlayStation Plus subscription in order to enjoy the Standard or Deluxe Edition of the full game when it properly launches on August 22.
Does Black Desert Online support cross-platform play between PS4 and Xbox One?
For PlayStation 4 players who have been admiring Black Desert Online from afar for way too long, 2019 is the best year of all time as it finally arrives on Sony’s platform.
Although it suffers from some of the understandable drawbacks that come with MMOs such as a lacklustre and afterthought of a narrative coupled with mundane quests, Black Desert Online is still a blast thanks to its fantastical world that would have made J.R.R. Tolkien blush green with envy.
Not only that, but the character creation suite is famous for being an extensive and beautiful prop room that allows you to be a god who creates only the most gorgeous men and women.
With all that being said, does the game support cross-platform play.
For those hoping to play with their Xbox One or PS4 buddies on either console, the unfortunate answer is a blunt no. There’s no cross-platform play between PS4, Xbox One, and PC for any of the popular platforms.
There are a dozen dated and recent forums that ask if Black Desert Online has or will ever boast cross-platform play, but it’s not likely to happen judging by this June 2019 tweet that was shared here.
Hey all. Crossplay won’t be a feature in Black Desert for Xbox One and PS4. If anything changes in the future, we’ll be sure to post on our social accounts.

While this might be disappointing for some, it’s probably for the best as PlayStation 4 players will be starting anew and will thus be novices in level and practice. Not only that, but the PS4 community will have a ton of catching up to do in regard to content, just like Xbox One users had to when they first received the fantasy epic.
