Arsenal are reportedly closing in on Celtic left back Kieran Tierney.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic defender Kieran Tierney will treble his wages by making the move to Arsenal, earning £75,000-a-week.

Arsenal have been pursuing Tierney for most of the summer now, but have been unable to convince Celtic to sell due to issues with their payment structures.

The Gunners now appear to have made a breakthrough ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline, with Tierney on the way for a medical ahead of completing his £25million move.

It’s stated that Tierney will now earn a huge £75,000-a-week once he completes his move to Arsenal, three times what The Herald claim he earns at Celtic.

The report also adds that Celtic have a ‘bumper’ sell-on clause in the deal, which is hugely important, as the Bhoys would earn a major cash windfall in the future.

The 22-year-old left back has been a star for Celtic over the last four years, playing a key role in their treble treble winning side whilst becoming a Scotland international regular.

Tierney has huge potential, and Celtic are at least protecting themselves in the future by ensuring they get a thick slice of any future fee Arsenal gain for the defender.

Celtic fans will be hurt by Tierney’s exit, given that he is one of their own, but with the money on offer and a regular spot in Unai Emery’s side given that he doesn’t appear to trust Sead Kolasinac in a back four, it’s easy to see why the move is appealing – even to a boyhood Celtic fan.
