John Bostock is reportedly heading back to the Championship with Nottingham Forest after a spell in Ligue 1.
Nottingham Forest are in talks to complete the signing of Toulouse midfielder John Bostock in the final few hours of the transfer window, according to France Football.
The London-born midfielder has been away from English football for some time and his career has become something of a cautionary tale for coveted young talents everywhere.
Bostock decided to leave Crystal Palace at the age of just 16 and sign for Tottenham Hotspur, a move that seemingly sparked the beginning of the end for one of English football’s great unfilled promises.
But, 11 years on, a return to British shores beckons for a player who has battled back bravely after spells in Canada, Turkey and Belgium.
The former England U19 star joined Toulouse in January and, after just 11 Ligue 1 appearances for the club, has entered talks over a shock move to the City Ground.
France Football claims that Bostock should arrive in Nottingham today and is expected to sign on loan with an option to buy.
Sabri Lamouchi is desperate to introduce a more free-flowing passing style at Forest and signing a player with Bostock’s undoubted technical skills will only help his ambitions. But can he really prove that he’s still got it, a decade after that ill-fated move to North London?
