Real Betis are reportedly very close to selling Giovani Lo Celso to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to ABC Sevilla, Real Betis have pulled playmaker Giovani Lo Celso out of their squad tonight – because a move to Tottenham Hotspur is now ‘very close’.

Lo Celso, 23, has been Tottenham’s top midfield target for some time now, but they have been unable to get a deal done with Betis.

A move for the Argentinian looked to be fading away ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline, especially with Spurs pursuing the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Paulo Dybala and Bruno Fernandes.

Now though, the move appears to be back on, and it’s claimed in the Andalusian press that Lo Celso has been pulled out of the Betis squad for tonight’s friendly game with Las Palmas.

The reason for that? Well, the report states that a deal with Tottenham is now ‘very close’, though the money involved hasn’t quite been finalised just yet.

Lo Celso is expected to make his drawn-out move to Spurs imminently, and finally give Mauricio Pochettino the additional playmaker he’s been looking for.

Lo Celso hails from the same region of Argentina as Pochettino, and having racked up 16 goals for Betis last season, he should be a key player for Spurs moving forward.

Spurs fans may be hoping for more deals before the deadline, but with Lo Celso out of tonight’s game, he suddenly looks very close to a move.
