This year's highly anticipated Boardmasters Festival has been struck by very bad news.
What a line-up! Or rather, what a line up it was...
As you'll know, Boardmasters Festival is held annually in Cornwall, United Kingdom and takes place in August. Most festivals offer music and that's it, but in this respect, Boardmasters is pretty special. As the name would suggest, it offers surfing and skateboarding events on top of the slate of music.
The event's history actually dates back to 1981, but things really got going in 2005. Since then, punters have seen the likes of Stormzy, Chase & Status, Bastille, Snoop Dogg, Ed Sheeran, Fat Boy Slim and more take to the stage to thrill the crowds.
So many have been looking forward to this year's edition, but sadly, it's been cancelled. What's happened?

Why was Boardmasters cancelled?
The five-day festival was due to commence on Wednesday, August 7th 2019, and as thousands prepared to begin their travels, it was cancelled suddenly.
The Sun reports that organisers decided to call it off last minute on the night of Tuesday, August 6th 2019. The decision was made after the Met Office issued a troublesome weather warning, detailing heavy rain and high winds across the weekend.
For most festivals, rain, mud and wind are all a part of the experience. Look no further than this year's Download Festival - many were discouraged and left after the terrible weather transformed the grounds into a swamp, but the majority stuck it out.
However, with a festival like Boardmasters, in which surfing events and the like are such an integral part of the weekend, it's not so simple as to just try and ignore it. Safety is clearly the underlined factor of the unfortunate cancellation, but now it's done, people just want to know how they can get refunded, understandably.
Boardmasters Refund: Take to Twitter!
So, how can you get your money back?
There has been no concrete information yet regarding how to go about getting one. However, they have issued a tweet saying that "anyone who purchased tickets via the Boardmasters website and official ticket sellers will receive a refund in full for the face value of their ticket." As of when this will be is uncertain, but ticket holders have been told to check social media for updates.
Sadly, it means booking fees and the like will probably be waved.
It looked as though festivalgoers may only receive the price of their ticket back, however, there has been a positive update on Twitter recently. GWR Help posted: "Unused train tickets to and from Newquay for Boardmasters can be refunded at your point of purchase, including normally non-refundable Advanced fares." Great news!
We'll be sure to check for updates.

Boardmasters 2019 line-up
Across the weekend, such performers as Wu-Tang Clan, Florence + The Machine, Giggs Foals, Jorja Smith, The Wombats, Dizzee Rascal, Slaves, Lewis Capaldi and more were set to appear.
The organisers will definitely have a lot on their plate right now, making sure that all of the acts are addressed and spoken to about the event cancellation. News of refunds are unlikely to be first priority, but indeed, news should come in the near future; as they say, be sure to follow them over at Twitter for important updates.
