Arsenal legend Ian Wright has taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Danny Welbeck has joined fellow Premier League side Watford (official Hornets website).

The England international has linked up with the Vicarage Road club after leaving the Emirates Stadium in June upon the expiry of his contract, bringing an end to his five-year stint in North London.

Welbeck came through the ranks at Manchester United and made 142 senior appearances for the Red Devils before joining Arsenal for £16million the following year and making 126 appearances (Transfermarkt).

However, the 28-year-old striker has not played since last November, when he sustained a serious ankle injury half an hour into a Europa League tie against Sporting Lisbon.

It was the latest in a string of serious injuries for Welbeck, who was restricted to a total of 20 league starts in the 2015-16, 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons combined (The Guardian).

Nonetheless, he remains appreciated for his efforts at Arsenal and Wright wished his fellow marksman all the best at Watford:

Welbeck has also scored 16 goals in 42 appearances on the international stage with England, last appearing for the Three Lions last September.
