Leeds United reportedly want to sign a new goalkeeper before the summer transfer window shuts.
According to a report from Leeds Live, the goalkeeper that Leeds hope to sign before the summer transfer window shuts on Thursday currently plays for a club in France.
The Whites have a couple of issues to address before the deadline passes, with Leeds Live reporting that Marcelo Bielsa wants a replacement for the exit-bound Kemar Roofe, while a new stopper is also wanted.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell left for Burnley earlier in the window, leaving Kiko Casilla as the only senior goalkeeper on the books. Leeds do have a number of talented youngsters, but with the Spaniard’s form coming in for criticism at times, it would be a major gamble not to sign a new goalkeeper this week.
And while Leeds Live do not reveal who is on the club’s wishlist, they do report that it is a player currently based in France who is being pursued heading into the final days of the window.
Could Leeds scupper potential Forest move?
One goalkeeper who appears to be heading to England before the transfer window closes is Brice Samba, with Caen president Fabrice Clement hinting to Actu that the club were in contact with an English side amid rumours that he is Nottingham Forest-bound.
There is no concrete reason to believe that he is destined for anywhere other than the City Ground. But it must be noted that Samba was at Marseille while Bielsa was in charge at Stade Velodrome, so perhaps he may be one player that has been discussed.
If the reports are correct, Samba may stand an outside chance of being named on the teamsheet when Leeds take on Sabri Lamouchi’s men this weekend. But, while it may putting two and two together and coming up with five at this stage, perhaps there is a small chance that his name may not appear on the side of the teamsheet that everyone currently expects.
