Everton youngster Kieran Dowell was given a chance to make his debut for Derby County last night, after being loaned out by Marco Silva.
Derby County fans have had a mixed reaction to Kieran Dowell’s debut display, after he joined on loan from Everton this summer.
Everton decided to give Dowell more of a chance to go out and learn his trade in the Championship this summer, and Derby were only too happy to offer him a new home.
The Everton youngster has quickly been thrown into Philippe Cocu’s line-up, and started in Derby’s season opener against Huddersfield Town last night.
The Rams won the contest 2-1, but Dowell’s evening was a mixed one.
The England youth international gave away a penalty in the contest, and Derby fans had mixed reviews of the Everton loanee’s displays.
Dont feel like dowell has been in this game at all for derby… #dcfc— Sean Hedley ⚽ (@SeanTHedley) August 5, 2019

Thoughts from tonight:— Chris (@buckers2011) August 5, 2019
Not sure what was with Dowell. Whole attitude seemed off today, didn’t look arsed for saying it was his debut at a new club.
Malone concerns me most matches, seems so often that threats come from the left.
Still missing CAM, RMF #dcfc
Overall assessment, Keogh and Clarke were excellent, Dowell was bright and clever in midfield, Lawrence probably had his best game for #DCFC and Waghorn did a fine job leading the line— Tom Bestwick (@tbestwick93) August 5, 2019
Good debut from Dowell tonight. I like him in that midfield role and looks to have some good promise, linking up well with the forward players. #dcfc— Ashley Woodhouse (@AshWoody90) August 5, 2019
Was very impressed with Dowell #dcfc— Tom ✍ (@TomDavies____) August 5, 2019
A wonderful start to the season for Lawrence. Hopefully he can produce more of that this season. If he does, he’ll have an impressive campaign.— Ashley Woodhouse (@AshWoody90) August 5, 2019
Particularly impressed with Matt Clarke as well, and Kieran Dowell. Some nice additions to the team. #dcfc
Everton will be keeping a close eye on Dowell’s progress at Pride Park, as he needs to have an outstanding season to break into Marco Silva’s plans.
Dowell has proven himself to be a standout midfielder in the Championship on previous loan spells, but there still seem to be some doubts at Everton over whether he can play regularly for them.
