Brentford’s attacking duo Neal Maupay and Said Benrahma have reportedly been attracting the interest of Aston Villa.

Aston Villa supporters on Twitter were excited to see that Neal Maupay and Said Benrahma were left out of Brentford’s matchday squad for their defeat against Birmingham City on Saturday.

The Birmingham Mail recently claimed that Villa are in discussions to sign both striker Maupay and winger Benrahma, who have both previously worked with Dean Smith at Griffin Park.

It must be noted that Benrahma has been injured and that was the reason for his absence, but the same cannot be said for Maupay, who was fully fit.

Either way, it has resulted in the Villa Park faithful feeling positive that they can potentially secure their signatures before Thursday’s deadline.

Villa have signed 12 players this summer, and it seems as though they want to take it to 14 before deadline day, and if they do then it’ll be one of the most remarkable transfer windows in Villa’s history.

Dean Smith does need to add another striker to his ranks, and it isn’t a surprise that he wants to sign a player like Maupay, who he knows so much about.

The Frenchman netted two goals against Villa last season, one at Villa Park when Dean Smith was still Brentford manager and the other was a last-minute winner in February.
