Tottenham Hotspur duo Eric Dier and Serge Aurier have returned to first-team training.

Tottenham have received a double boost ahead of their Premier League season opener against Aston Villa next week with Eric Dier and Serge Aurier returning to first-team training.

Spurs play host to Villa next Saturday in the 17:30 kick-off, and Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be desperate to get off to a good start.

Aurier has been out since injuring his hand whilst on international duty with the Ivory Coast. The right-back had surgery to repair his damaged hand.

Dier, meanwhile, has been out since undergoing a procedure to correct an issue detected during medical assessments on the first day of pre-season training.

The Tottenham pair have now returned to pre-season trainman, however:

Whilst it could be argued that neither Aurier or Dier are guaranteed first-team starters for Spurs, they are undoubtedly key squad members, so having them back and available for action can only be a good thing for the north London outfit.

The season opener against big spending Villa will be far from easy, so Tottenham will have to be at their best if they are to kick off the new season with three points next weekend.
