Tottenham Hotspur are now said to be ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Bruno Fernandes.
United have been said to be keen on Fernandes for much of the summer but they have failed to get a deal over the line, and now Tottenham have stepped up their pursuit.
Spurs have sent representatives over to Portugal to attempt to thrash out a deal with Sporting Lisbon, as they look to bring in the attacking midfielder.
And it is fair to say that United fans are not keen on the idea of seeing Fernandes join Tottenham.
@ManUtd failure to land bruno in this window would be unforgivable— Martin Collins (@TheMelv1986) August 1, 2019
What’s it gonna be like when @ManUtd let’s Fernandes move to Spurs, can’t sign a CB, and gets rejected by Dybala on top of not clearing out the riff raff that should have been cleared out LAST SEASON!? Seriously, this club has become a joke #mufc #GlazersOut— Ryan Donahue (@lil_ichiban14) August 2, 2019
Do u know how depressed i’ll be if spurs sign fernandes ? My club is a joke!— MUFC (@RedDevilShqipe) August 1, 2019
Bruno Fernandes linked with Spurs according to Sky— Ashy_P (@_ash0) August 1, 2019
Tbf, they offer UCL football and one of the best young managers in world football.
We offer Jones and Smalling.
Can we stop playing around and get deals done?! I will be gutted if he joins Spurs #MUFC pic.twitter.com/0Az9xtkgf2
Tottenham are one of the teams that United are trying to chase in the Premier League, so if Fernandes was to move to White Hart Lane it could put further distance between the two sides.
It seems that Tottenham are looking for a new number 10, even if Christian Eriksen does stay with them.
United, meanwhile, have wanted a playmaker for much of the summer so far, but they have failed to get a deal over the line so far.
United are still being linked with Dybala in the Manchester Evening News, while James Maddison was on their radar earlier this summer (Daily Express).
