Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton was one of their best performers in the play offs.

Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed to the Yorkshire Evening Post that Leeds United youngster Jamie Shackleton is ready to feature against Bristol City.

There were fears from Leeds supporters that Shackleton would be unavailable against the Robins on opening day, as he has hurt his thigh.

However, it seems that Shackleton is very much available to play for Leeds, after winning his race to be fit.

Bielsa does have other injury worries though, as Luke Ayling, Tyler Roberts and Kemar Roofe will miss out.

He said: “Ayling is missing, Tyler Roberts and Roofe too. These are the 3 players that we miss. Ayling has an operation on his ankle, Tyler is in a process which will finally be an operation and Roofe has an ankle injury. Shackleton is ready.”

Shackleton may well have a chance of starting for Leeds on Sunday, as he really proved his worth during the play offs.

The youngster was one of the stars of Leeds’ tie against Derby County, and there are very high hopes about the impact he could make over the coming campaign.

Leeds’ opening day test against Bristol City should be a good marker to see how strong they are for the season ahead.

The Robins are expected to be one of Leeds’ most dangerous rivals in their bid to earn promotion, and if Bielsa’s side do win at Ashton Gate, it would be a real statement of intent.
