Newcastle United have been linked with Bundesliga left-back Willems since 2016 and now the Dutchman is allegedly heading to the Premier League.

It looks like Steve Bruce is on the verge of achieving something Newcastle United have tried to do since 2016 – namely, sign Jetro Willems.
According to the Chronicle, the Eintracht Frankfurt left-back has suddenly agreed personal terms ahead of a potential move to Tyneside. In fact, his switch could be completed by the end of the weekend.
And the irony will not be lost on Newcastle fans.
The Magpies have been trying to sign Willems since 2016 with no luck (the Chronicle). But, without warning, it looks like they are about to finally get their long-time target in the blinking of an eye.
Speaking to VTBL earlier in the year, Willems claimed that Newcastle had shown an interest in signing him this summer and, two months later, the 25-year-old is apparently on the verge of joining the club who have tracked him since his heyday at PSV Eindhoven.

An attack-minded left-back with ability to put a cross on a sixpence, it is no coincidence that Newcastle have renewed their interest in Willems while Bruce attempts to introduce a new-look 3-5-2 system.
Willems is a perfect fit for that left-sided wing-back role. Now, Newcastle need to find a right-back to provide balance on the opposite flank.
