The free agent is a reported transfer target for Crystal Palace.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace want to sign Gary Cahill on a free transfer.

The Eagles experienced a fairly underwhelming Premier League campaign last season, ending up in 12th position in the table.

They shipped 53 goals in 38 games, so central defence is undoubtedly an area where Roy Hodgson will want to improve.

And the Daily Mail claims that Crystal Palace are eyeing up a move for former Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill on a free transfer.

The 33-year would be a great signing for the south London outfit.

Cahill has won pretty much all there is to win in the game, with two Premier League titles and a Champions League winner’s medal to his name.

The 61-capped England international is strong in the air and tenacious in the tackle, and he would undoubtedly add a certain level of solidarity and steel to Palace’s back-line.

And if Crystal Palace do sign Cahill, it could turn out to be a really significant piece of business for the south London outfit.
