Former Arsenal defender Cohen Bramall has agreed a deal to join Colchester United on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands.

Bramall is a free agent after leaving Arsenal earlier this summer upon the expiration of his contract at the Emirates.

The full-back has had offers from a number of Championship and League One clubs, but he has decided to move to Colchester in search of regular first-team football.

Bramall is set to sign a two-year deal at Colchester and could go straight into the squad for this weekend’s League Two opener against Port Vale.

The left-back had a spell on loan at Birmingham City in the Championship during the 2017/18 season and he made five appearances in his time at St Andrew’s.
