Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth could be sidelined for weeks now.

Mauricio Pochettino has told Football London that Juan Foyth said he was in a lot of pain when he left the pitch during Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Bayern Munich.

Spurs won the Audi Cup on penalties last night, after drawing 2-2 with Bayern in normal time.

Tottenham’s performance was encouraging and their trophy lift at the end gave the team reason to celebrate.

However, Foyth’s injury rather marred the occasion, as the Argentine looked severely hurt.

Foyth went down clutching his Achilles and he had to be stretched off.

And the £10 million defender (Standard) suggested that Pochettino that things were not good when he went past the Tottenham boss.

“I need to talk with the doctor now,” Pochettino said. “He twisted his ankle but at the moment I cannot update. I saw when he was leaving the pitch and said to me his ankle was very painful.”

If Tottenham are without Foyth it will be a blow for their chances this season.

Tottenham already look short at right-back following the departure of Kieran Trippier, so can ill afford to lose another option in the position for any length of time.
