Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly keen on Barcelona's Malcom but could Zenit Saint Petersburg's interest spoil the party?

According to a report from Marca, Russian giants Zenit Saint Petersburg are in talks with Barcelona over the signing of Brazilian winger Malcom in this transfer window.

The report states that Barca boss Ernesto Valverde has asked the club to accelerate the process of selling players ahead of their trip to the United States. Barcelona feel that Malcom is a player they could make some money on according to the report and the Brazilian isn't short of suitors.

Sport reported earlier this week that Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur along with fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Everton have expressed their interest, while Inter Milan, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt are all keen too.

Malcom is clearly out of favour at Barcelona with the likes of Lionel Messi, Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and now potentially Neymar if he returns all ahead of him in the pecking order. A move away will certainly favour both the Brazilian and the Catalan giants and clubs interested in him should be ready to pounce soon.

Spurs could certainly do with a player of Malcom's quality but such heavy interest in the player from across the globe will certainly make it harder for them in this transfer window. Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg's massive financial potential could push them further ahead of the North Londoners which would be a real blow of Pochettino and his side.

Signing Malcom will allow Pochettino to push Son Heung-min up front alongside Harry Kane which would massively boost Spurs' attack next season. Daniel Levy will have to act quick in the coming days if he wants to have any chance of signing Malcom.

He'd be a huge statement ahead of the new campaign.
