The Owls stalwart will take charge of the Hillsborough club's first game of the 2019-20 Championship season.
The Championship club were left without a permanent manager after Steve Bruce, who only took charge in February, left to take over at Newcastle United, and Bullen once again stepped in to oversee preparations for the new season.
Bullen has held the Owls squad's reins since the trip to Germany in the middle of July and, with no breakthrough on a new permanent manager as of yet, the club confirmed that the stalwart will oversee the game against Reading at the Madejski Stadium.
Here is what some fans said on social media about the news, with reaction seeming mixed:
I’d rather have Bullen for a few weeks and maybe drop a few points than rush in and appoint the wrong man.— Dan Smith (@dan_N_smith) 29 July 2019

I like Lee Bullen. Cynic in me thinks we will appoint someone the day after the transfer window shuts though #swfc— Now We Live (@NowWeLive01) 29 July 2019

Although Wednesday finished a respectable 12th last time round, the 2018-19 season saw Jos Luhukay sacked and, following caretaker spells by Bullen and then Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, Bruce took the reins in February.
After the trip to Reading, the Owls will host Barnsley at Hillsborough on 10 August.
