The summer Aston Villa signing feels he is on the same wavelength as the midfielder.

New Aston Villa signing Jota has spoken to the club’s official website about his happiness playing alongside Jack Grealish.

The Spaniard made the switch from Birmingham City last month and has established himself as one of the stand-outs in Dean Smith’s team during pre-season.

Notably combining well with the likes of Fred Guilbert and Grealish already in friendly action, fans have every reason to be excited about the impact he could make over the coming season.

Jota is clearly enjoying himself too and has revealed being a teammate of Grealish is helping him enjoy his football.

As quoted by avfc.co.uk, the 28-year-old said: “I know Jack from playing against him with Brentford and Birmingham. He moves the ball very well, and always wants to play the ball in a combination.

“I’m happy to be on the pitch with him because I feel we have the same style of football and we can combine. Really for me it is so pleasurable to play with quality players.”

Having confidence and a joy for playing is going to be massive with many of Villa’s players having not tested themselves at English Premier League level previously.

Jota has spent much of his career in the English and Spanish second-tiers so has a challenge on his hands to make the step up.

The recruitment team at Villa Park have spent a lot of money this summer and that will come with expectation.

If Jota and others can find combinations throughout the Villa team it’ll go a long way towards Dean Smith having a unit that works for each other and is assertive in games week-to-week.

That team spirit more than anything could be just what they need to beat the drop and ensure they have long-term Premier League success.
