The Owls just lost Steve Bruce to Newcastle United in a controversial move, and Wednesday are once again looking for a new manager having only landed Bruce earlier this year.
A number of names have been touted for the job, but few would have picked out Lorenzo as a potential candidate to replace Bruce in the Hillsborough hot seat.
The 53-year-old has never even had a managerial job, but he will have backing from Tottenham boss Pochettino, who will recommend his compatriot to the Owls.
Lorenzo has been Jose Pekerman's assistant in jobs with the Colombia national team, Tigres UANL, Toluca, Argentina and Argentina Under-20's, being hugely favoured by the 69-year-old for 18 years.
Now, Lorenzo is seeking a managerial job in England having featured for Swindon Town in his playing days, but just how Pochettino is involved is interesting.
The pair never played together for Argentina or in club football, and by the time Lorenzo was coaching with the Argentina senior side, Pochettino was out of the national team setup.
They may simply know each other from football in Argentina, and whilst Pochettino is a convincing man, it would be a major gamble for Wednesday to go for Lorenzo as a replacement for such a tried and tested Championship boss in Bruce.
