According to a report from The Sun, Crystal Palace fans who want to see the club sign Rennes' Ismaila Sarr this summer may have Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi to thank if the winger moves to Selhurst Park.

Dougie Freedman has reportedly been a fan of the Senegal international since the World Cup and an enquiry has been made, with The Sun reporting that he is available for around £30 million during the final days of the transfer window.

And as part of the checks Freedman has been making, The Sun reports that he has been in contact with new Forest boss Lamouchi to learn more about the 21-year-old, who scored eight goals in Ligue 1 last year while also providing six assists. He also scored four times in the Europa League last term.

Lamouchi arrived at Rennes just a few months after Sarr had joined the club from Metz in the 2017 summer transfer window. It was Sarr who scored the final goal of Lamouchi's tenure in France.

It would be a fantastic statement of intent from the Eagles if they could get a deal done for Sarr in the coming days. It has been an incredibly quiet few months for Roy Hodgson's men on the transfer front with Jordan Ayew the only outfield player to join - and he will not feel like an addition to many having spent last season on loan with the club.

Pulling off a deal for Sarr would be a brilliant way for Palace to make up for lost time. It would certainly give the team a major lift heading into their Premier League curtain-raiser against Everton next month.
