Leeds United were held to a 1-1 draw by Cagliari in their final pre-season friendly of the summer.
Pablo Hernandez fired the Championship side back on level terms after the Italian outfit took a first-half lead.
A number of Leeds defenders didn't cover themselves in glory for Cagliari's opener and White, a summer signing from Brighton & Hove Albion, was among those who could've done better.
That being said, the 21-year-old, who is only on a season-long loan with Marcelo Bielsa's side, definitely improved from there on and finished the game very well indeed.
Here's how Leeds fans are reacting to his display:
Everyone saying about Jansson but looking at Ben White tonight I was very impressed. Hope I’m right but could even be an upgrade. That saying we still need a proper CB and Striker #lufc— Mr Popular (@Russlufc) July 27, 2019
I think Bielsa has uncovered a gem in white more pace than Pontus which means kilo stays in his box— Ian LUFC Ward (@ianward65) July 27, 2019
White looks excellent in possession, not fazed under pressure, plays with his head up. Just hope he can defend #lufc— RichieRich (@AMitherer) July 27, 2019
Told you Stacey, White could be better than Jansson and definitely better than Cooper— Glyn Gillard (@GillardGlyn) July 27, 2019
Berardi has had a superb 2nd half, felt like him & White grew into the game the longer it went on. Davis has been very good throughout and would be man of the match for me. #lufc— Terry Felipe (@eltel89) July 27, 2019
White was good. Cool on the ball and clearly still learning but Bielsa could turn him into a very good player. Bogusz didn’t come on till late so didn’t really have much time to get into the game. Good football from Leeds at times & better then the opposition— PaulMak (@pmak27) July 27, 2019
There is a lot of pressure on White - especially if Victor Orta doesn't bring in another centre-back this summer.
United have lost four central defenders so far - Paudie O'Connor, Hugo Diaz, Aapo Halme & Pontus Jansson - and signed just the one.
White and Liam Cooper are Bielsa's best options as far as recognised centre-backs go - and the Brighton-owned powerhouse has never even kicked a ball in the Championship.
It's a very risky strategy if no reinforcements come over the next couple of weeks but, going by this evening's display, Leeds could have a player.
