Kieran Trippier suggested that he left Tottenham for Atletico Madrid because of things that happened behind the scenes, and Graham Roberts reacted strongly to the right-back's comments on Twitter.

The 28-year-old left Spurs for Atleti for £20 million earlier this month, on the back of a really poor season for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Trippier's form was so bad in fact, that he was dropped from the England national team squad.

Trippier will be hoping to reinvigorate his career in Spain.

On his day, he is one of the best right-backs around, but he quite simply just wasn't at it for Tottenham last season.

And only time will tell whether £20 million for him was a better deal for Spurs or Atletico.
