The Aston Villa hitman wasn't on the scoresheet today, despite having chances.
Some Aston Villa fans are criticising Scott Hogan on Twitter.
Dean Smith's side romped to a comfortable 4-1 win at Charlton Athletic this afternoon, but it could and should have been by a greater margin.
Hogan, a £12 million signing by Aston Villa in 2017 [BBC Sport], came on in the 65th minute and missed a couple of decent goalscoring chances.
The Republic of Ireland international was on the scoresheet in last week's 1-0 win at Shrewsbury Town.
And here's how some Villa fans reacted to his performance this afternoon:
Hogan should score. Simple.— Kasir Kkay (@Kkasir23) July 27, 2019
Andre Green isn't good enough for the prem. Scott Hogan is non-existant, shows how much we really lack striker cover for Wes. McGinn is a machine. Grealish and Jota will link up well this season. Guilbert's looking good. Enjoying Ming's/Konsa/Hause/Engels at the back. #avfc— Elliott Radford (@feixradford) July 27, 2019

Scott Hogan gets paid to jog to the halfway line and back... let that sink in— Louis Fogg (@louisfogg98) July 27, 2019
Hogan and taylor need to go.. Green hasn't done anywhere near enough this pre season to show he's good enough. Needs a loan. Need to buy another quality winger and striker desperately #avfc— Harry Johnson (@avfc_johnson) July 27, 2019
Hogan spent the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield United and it seems unlikely that he'll be staying with Aston Villa's first team in the Premier League.
That being said, it might depend on whether Smith can get another striker in. The Villans have signed 10 players this summer, but only one striker - Wesley, who wasn't available today - and at the moment, they might not be able to lose Hogan.
Smith's side kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Tottenham in two weeks time.
