Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to miss out on Southampton’s Mario Lemina as Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne reportedly agree personal terms with the player.

Sky Sports recently revealed that Wolverhampton Wanderers joined Manchester United in the race to sign the former Juventus midfielder who is on the lookout for a move away from the club. Southampton have left him out of their pre-season tour for him to find a new club but his asking price could be a stumbling block for the French outfit.
Manchester United were given permission to talk to Lemina according to The Times earlier this month but a move to Old Trafford hasn’t quite materialised.
Wolves were expected to be the only other team in the running for the Gabonese international but with Saint-Etienne making the big step, Nuno would have to move in quickly if he wants to complete his signing this summer.

Wolves started off their Europa League campaign well with a 2-0 win in their qualifiers game against Crusaders in the first leg. Nuno’s side still need further reinforcements to their squad in order to compete both in the Premier League as well as in Europe and Lemina would have been a very smart signing.
At a reported fee of just £18 million, Lemina is a worthy addition for any club in today’s inflated transfer market and Wolves should step up their pursuit before Saint-Etienne steal him before the end of the transfer window which is just under two weeks away.
