The Inter Milan hitman would be a superb addition for Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham desperately need to sign a new striker this summer, and not just an average back-up for Harry Kane.

If Spurs are to be successful in the Premier League and the Champions League this season, the signing of a world-class forward to partner the England international will be crucial.

And with this in mind, Tottenham should go for Mauro Icardi.

The Inter Milan hitman is available for transfer this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, Sempre Inter claims that Inter will be willing to sell the Argentine for around €60 million (£54 million).

And here’s why that would represent great value for Spurs…

Goal record

Icardi, 26, is a prolific striker in every sense. He has racked up 164 goals in 289 career appearances, and he has always produced in the big games.

Link-up play

The Argentine ace is technically excellent, and his first touch when under pressure is second to none. This would help him link up play between midfield and attack, and he would undoubtedly improve the fluidity of Tottenham’s attacking play.

Different style to Kane

Whilst they are both prolific goal-scorers, Icardi and Kane are very different in the way in which they play. And they could strike up a devastating partnership.

The Inter ace is more technically gifted than the Tottenham hitman, and he would be able to drop deeper, allowing Kane to act as Spurs’ focal point.

FC Inter News actually claimed back in March that Spurs enquired about Icardi, so it seems as though Pochettino is a fan of the Inter hitman.

And if Tottenham could pick up Icardi for £54 million this summer, he might just be a better, and cheaper, option than Paulo Dybala.
