Former Ibrox youngsters Jordan Thompson and Ryan Hardie are already at Bloomfield Road and Alnwick could join them in League One.
It has been yet another busy summer of incomings and outgoings at Ibrox as Steven Gerrard and director of football Mark Allen continue to put together a squad capable of challenging Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title.
Eight new players have arrived and, as a result, some have had to leave to make room. Daniel Candeias sealed his move to Turkey this week, following Lee Wallace, Ryan Hardie and Jordan Rossiter out the door.
And Alnwick, a £250,000 signing from Port Vale in January 2017 (Daily Record), is expected to be the latest fringe player to bid farewell.
The Gazette claims that Blackpool are set to sign the one-time Newcastle United youngster with a deal potentially set to be confirmed as early as Tuesday. Alnwick is expected to join on loan but, given that he does not appear to be part of Gerrard’s plans, don’t be surprised if that results in a permanent transfer.
Alnwick shone in League One for Port Vale and during a loan spell at Scunthorpe last season so a Blackpool side who have already signed Hardie from Rangers this summer could have the best ‘keeper in the division in time for 2019/20.
