Everton striker Bassala Sambou has confirmed his exit from Goodison Park.

Everton are in the market for at least one new striker this summer, but they’re set to lose one in Bassala Sambou.

In 2016, Everton raided Coventry City to sign Sambou, with the young German touted as one for the future, and Steve Walsh was impressed enough to sign him.

Sambou sadly never made the grade at Goodison Park, as he failed to make even one appearance for the Toffees first team.

Last season, the 21-year-old hit 11 goals in all competitions, and that was enough to spark interest in his signature.

The Liverpool Echo noted that teams in England, Germany and the Netherlands were interested in Sambou, who rejected a new deal with Everton.

His contract officially ended on June 30th, and he has now taken to Twitter in order to confirm that he is indeed moving on, thanking the club for the last three years.

Everton fans responded to Sambou, with many wishing him good luck, and others wishing that he’d been given a chance in the first team after scoring regularly for their Under-23’s.

Intriguingly though, he was also sent messages by fans of Fortuna Sittard in the Netherlands, as Limburger report that Sambou is a target for them – and their supporters believe that Sambou’s tweet means he’s another step closer to joining them.
