Celtic could be making their best and most devastating move of the summer with reports suggesting that they are keen on Championship powerhouse Britt Assombalonga.
The Northern Echo have claimed that Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are one of a number of clubs keen on Middlesbrough's record-signing Assombalonga.
Simply put, Celtic must push for Assombalonga's signature because a player of his qualities would tear the Scottish Premiership apart.
The 26-year-old, by his standards, did not show his true worth in the Championship last season because he netted only 14 goals in the second tier of English football.
But there was a big reason behind that. Tony Pulis. His very defensive style was very problematic for the attackers, and it even resulted in Boro missing out on a play-off spot. To no-one's surprise, Pulis has since been sacked
For Assombalonga, it would be a completely different kettle of fish up in Scotland because he would be playing for a more attacking and dominant team.
Assombalonga can play up top on his own, or he can play alongside another attack-minded player - both situations would suit Neil Lennon and provide the Bhoys with versatility.
Not only that, Assombalonga's physicality alone would hurt opposition defenders, not forgetting that he has added pace and a natural finishing ability to boot.
If Celtic sign Assombalonga then they can make him the focal point of the team because he won't just find the back of the net for himself, but he'll also get the best out of those around him.
