The Northern Ireland international started Rangers’ pre-season friendly at Ibrox on Sunday.

Summer signing Jordan Jones has left Rangers fans impressed after his performance against Blackburn Rovers in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard named a strong starting eleven against the English Championship side as the Gers continue to prepare for more competitive challenges later this summer.

Jones was one of the men given the nod and rewarded his boss with a classy contribution.

It was his whipped cross that allowed Jermain Defoe to nip in and score their only goal of the game in a 1-1 draw.

With competition strong in the wide areas, Jones will know he needs to keep his performance levels and direct goal contributions consistent to retain his place in the side.

It was something he struggled with at Kilmarnock last season, scoring just four and assisting another four in 35 appearances.

The 24-year-old looks in good shape in the early stages of 2019/20 though, providing a potent enough threat on the left flank to fill in for Ryan Kent, who returned to parent club Liverpool at the end of last season.

If he can keep producing crosses like the one for Defoe’s goal then he won’t have much problem fitting in at Ibrox.

Supporters are certainly encouraged, with some taking to Twitter on Sunday to share their thoughts on his pre-season display…
