Leeds fans fume as West Brom sign Semi Ajayi for £1.5m

Leeds United were linked with the star before he joined West Bromwich Albion.

Leeds United fans on Twitter aren't happy about Semi Ajayi's move to West Bromwich Albion.

The Elland Road club are in dire need of a new centre-back to replace Pontus Jansson, who moved to Brentford earlier this month.

There was speculation about a move for the then-Rotherham United defender, who has just signed for West Brom in a £1.5 million deal [The Express & Star].

Leeds only have two weeks to sign a Jansson replacement if he is to start the trip to Bristol City on August 4, and some fans of the West Yorkshire club believe that Victor Orta has missed a trick with Ajayi.

The worrying thing here is that Leeds aren't being linked with a lot of centre-backs, to the point where you wonder if Orta and Marcelo Bielsa view it as an urgent matter.

Prior to Jansson's departure, United snapped up Ben White on a season-long loan, but he has never kicked a ball at Championship level.

The Whites badly need at least one other central defender to partner Liam Cooper, but the clock is ticking and Ajayi, for £1.5 million, would've been ideal.
