West Ham United are set to miss on Reece McAlear to Norwich City.
According to The Scottish Sun, Norwich City are closing in on a deal to sign Motherwell teenager Reece McAlear, beating West Ham United.
The Canaries are attempting to bolster their squad for their return to the Premier League, but they’re also casting one eye on the future too.
They’ve already raided Partick Thistle for youngster Aidan Fitzpatrick, and they’re now set to sign another Scottish talent.
It’s claimed that Norwich are close to agreeing a fee for Motherwell teenager McAlear, which would see them fend off rival Premier League interest.
The 17-year-old midfielder has been tipped for a bright future, and he’s picked up Scotland youth caps having emerged through the Motherwell ranks.
Norwich missed out on another Fir Park teenager in David Turnbull earlier this summer, but whilst Motherwell thought they could keep hold of McAlear, they’re set to sell with one year left on his deal.
That means Norwich will beat West Ham United and Leicester City to his signature, as The Scottish Sun claimed just last month that both clubs wanted to sign McAlear.
West Ham will be hoping this doesn’t come back to haunt them in the years to come, whilst Norwich will be looking to develop the teenager under Daniel Farke at Carrow Road before unleashing him in their first team.
