The Hammers are looking for further reinforcements up front after breaking their transfer record to sign Sebastian Haller earlier this week, and the Star reports that Morelos is one player on Manuel Pellegrini's radar.
The 23-year-old enjoyed another brilliant campaign in front of goal in the Scottish Premiership last season. He scored 18 times for Steven Gerrard's men in the top flight to finish as the division's top goalscorer.
But the Star reports that the Hammers are worried about Morelos' disciplinary record after the forward collected five red cards - admittedly, one was retrospectively rescinded - so it remains to be seen if they follow up on their interest in the youngster.
Could Rangers sell for £10 million?
It would actually be a big surprise if Rangers were willing to sell Morelos for £10 million this summer. While he has proved difficult to rely on at times, he could be worth twice as much if he is kept for another year and proves his doubters wrong by staying out of trouble on the pitch.
It is, of course, easier said than done. And there are likely to be some amongst the Rangers hierarchy who believe that £10 million could be a good price for the striker. But he could easily be worth a lot more if he shows that he has learnt from his mistakes and continues to score on a regular basis.
However, if West Ham can get Morelos for the reported asking price, then Pellegrini would be wise to push for a deal to be done. It could prove to be a real bargain for the Hammers.
