Championship outfit Brentford have reportedly made a club-record bid for Troyes striker Bryan Mbeumo.

Brentford have made an eye-catching £5.8 million bid for Troyes forward Bryan Mbeumo, according to L’Equipe.

So far this summer, most of the talk at Griffin Park has been about departures rather than incomings. The Bees are used to losing their most important players and this year has been no different with Ezri Konsa joining Aston Villa and Yoann Barbet heading to QPR on a free transfer.

But Brentford are quietly building a very promising squad after a superb end to the 2018/19 season under Thomas Frank.

Pontus Jansson and Ethan Pinnock have the character and potential to form one of the Championship’s best defensive partnerships while swooping for Blackburn goalkeeper David Raya could be an inspired piece of business.

Brentford have already broken their transfer record twice already this summer for Jansson and Pinnock, though claims from France suggest that Mbeumo could perhaps replace the Swedish international as the most expensive player in their history.

Brentford have offered £5.8 million for 19-year-old Mbeumo, according to L’Equipe, with Schalke and Rennes also keen on a striker who scored 11 goals last season.

L’Equipe stated earlier in the week that Premier League side Southampton had also made an offer, though it seemed to fall short of the £7 million Troyes wanted for their prized asset.
