The Black Cats academy graduate, who had a loan spell at Blundell Park last term, has committed his future to the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland midfielder Elliot Embleton has been praised by a number of Grimsby Town fans on Twitter after the Black Cats announced that the 20-year-old has signed a new contract at the Stadium of Light (official website).
Embleton, who came through the ranks at Sunderland, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, committing his future to the League One club and extending his stay on Wearside until the end of the 2020-21 season.

The youngster made his first-team debut for the Black Cats in December 2017 against Wolverhampton Wanderers, before joining Grimsby on loan in August 2018, where he proved very impressive.
During his time on loan with the Mariners at Blundell Park, Embleton scored four goals in 27 League Two appearances, and was especially impressive in December, winning the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award.

Excellent season on loan with us at GY, knew we wouldn’t have a chance getting him permanent as way too good at L2 level considering players he had around him in a very mediocre Town side…..hope he gets a good run of games with you

Brilliant, at times he was the only real creative spark in the team and was able to get other people playing. He scored some great goals and got potm a couple of times I believe. Once he gets in that first team hell be staying in it.

As well as impressing at club level, Embleton has also represented England at Under-17, U18, U19 and U20 level.
