Mousset has scored just three goals in 55 games for Bournemouth in the Premier League but is he now set to sign for Sheffield United?
Sheffield United are set to make Lys Mousset their next summer signing after agreeing a club-record £10 million fee for the Bournemouth striker, as reported by the Bournemouth Echo.
It has been an interesting transfer window so far for The Blades. Chris Wilder’s side have snapped up two of the Championship’s most underrated attackers in Luke Freeman and Callum Robinson while re-signing former star Phil Jagielka from Everton and giving one of the game’s biggest wasted talents Ravel Morrison yet another fresh start.
And, according to The Echo, Sheffield United are now set to break their transfer record for the third time this summer alone.
Mousset, who was left out of Bournemouth’s squad for the 3-2 pre-season victory against AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night, is expected to join the Steel City giants for a fee of around £10 million, making him the most expensive signing in their history.
Whether the France U21 international is worth such a fee, however, is another matter entirely.
He has hardly set the world alight since joining Bournemouth from Le Havre in 2016, scoring three times in 55 Premier League games for Eddie Howe’s side while never coming close to nailing down a starting position.
But Wilder is a master of getting the best out of raw talents and forgotten misfits.
