The online world was shocked to learn of the death of 17-year-old Instagram influencer and gamer Bianca Devins, who was allegedly murdered on Sunday, July 14th by Brandon Clark.
The news went viral after photos of her body were posted to online social media sites by her alleged killer, something which Instagram and other sites have struggled to police due to the volume of people re-uploading the graphic images in the time since. The images in question will not be shown here.
Many have already called the incident a wake-up call for social media sites for allowing the images to be spread around so profusely. Time will only tell if steps are taken to stop harmful images being spread online in this manner.
The debate rages on over the nature of the killing and the motivation behind Brandon's actions. Here is everything we know about him.
Bianca Devins' murder
Bianca Devins, a 17-year-old influencer from Utica, NY, is believed to have attended a concert with a friend on the night of July 13th. Brandon Clark has also ben reported to attend the event with them having driven Bianca to and from the concert.
Sources differ on the precise nature of the pair's relationship with some claiming them to be romantically involved while others stating that the pair were just platonic friends.
Some on social media have described Brandon Clark as a lonely and obsessed fan of Bianca Devins, and that he allegedly grew angry with her after having sexual advances rejected.

What we know about Brandon Clark
According to The Sun, police officers found Brandon Clark, who is 21-years-old, wielding a knife on Sunday, July 14th after supposedly trying to commit suicide.
It is understood that Brandon was found in a critical condition and was taken to hospital for emergency surgery before being taken to Oneida County Jail where he was arraigned with the charge of the second-degree murder of Bianca Devins - again according to The Sun.
A report from Buzzfeed suggests that Bradon met Bianca Devins on social media site Instagram, around two months before her death and that the pair met willingly in order to attend the concert on Saturday, July 13th.
After allegedly killing Bianca, Brandon is accused of posting images of her corpse to his Instagram page - which has now been taken down - as well as to the sites Discord and 4chan.
On Clark's Instagram page, he had changed the description to read "10/06/1997 - 7/14/19 Just know that I feel no pain now" as if to allude to his plans of committing suicide after allegedly murdering Bianca Devins.

For Brandon Clark, the investigation continues.
In terms of the social media sites that allowed the spread of these graphic images, it is unclear whether steps will be taken to try and stop the spread of content such as this.
It is clear though that after such a response, both to the murder itself and the spreading of the harmful images, some form of action needs to be taken to stop such an event happening again in future.
