West Ham United are nearing the signing of Sebastien Haller.
According to Sky Sports, West Ham United are closing in on the signature of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller, as he’s on his way to London for a medical.
The Hammers missed out on top striker target Maxi Gomez as he joined Valencia instead, and that forced Manuel Pellegrini and co to look elsewhere for a new striker.
Haller has become the new top target, and reports over the last few days have suggested that a deal may be close, with German newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau claiming a £36million deal plus £100,000-a-week in wages was in the offing.
Now, Sky claim that Haller is on his way to London for a medical, with the fee now all the way up to £45million as West Ham splash the cash to find their new striker, and Frankfurt themselves have now confirmed an agreement.
Haller, 25, has been a star for Frankfurt since arriving from Utrecht in 2017, and racked up 15 goals and nine assists last season as he impressed alongside Luka Jovic.
Sadly, Frankfurt have now seemingly lost both of their star strikers, as just weeks after seeing Jovic join Real Madrid, Haller is on his way to West Ham.
It’s a hugely exciting move for West Ham, and you could argue that Haller is actually a better signing than Gomez. He’s a few years older, has experience in the Eredivisie, Bundesliga and the Europa League, and has proven his ability to both score and create.
A big, physical target man, Haller is superb in the air and will provide a perfect focal point for Pellegrini’s side to work off, and they’ll be hoping to get a deal done and dusted quickly after their Gomez saga.
