Newcastle United continue to be linked with Hoffenheim striker Joelinton.

According to Kicker, Hoffenheim striker Joelinton is currently planning to attend the club’s training camp despite claims he’s heading for Newcastle United.

The 22-year-old is a top striker target for the Magpies, and claims over the last 24 hours have suggested that a move to St James’ Park is close.

The Telegraph claimed that a deal is in place for Newcastle to sign the Brazilian, whilst The Northern Echo believe Steve Bruce has sanctioned a deal ahead of becoming Magpies boss.

However, Kicker claim that Joelinton is currently still planning to go to Hoffenheim’s training camp in Windischgarsten, which begins on Thursday.

It seems that Joelinton is still waiting for things to really materialise, but he won’t take himself out of Hoffenheim’s plans to force through a move to St James’ Park.

What’s interesting is that Hoffenheim have already added two strikers this summer in Ihlas Bebou and Sargis Adamyan, but L’Equipe report that they also want Roger Assale from Young Boys.

Assale isn’t quite the powerhouse that Joelinton is, but the mere suggestion that Hoffenheim are seeking yet another striker may be a hint that Joelinton is on his way.

Bebou, Adamyan and Andrej Kramaric are all in the mix, and Ishak Belfodil will be too when he comes back from injury, meaning it’s hard to see Joelinton staying and Assale joining.

Newcastle will hope their interest in Assale is because they’re ready to let Joelinton go, and will certainly aim to have a deal tied up before the Brazilian hitman – who notched 11 goals and nine assists last season – heads off on that training camp.
