Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing the Lille ace.
According to a report from French publication La Voix du Nord, Lille will hold a meeting today to discuss proposals from four clubs for Nicolas Pepe, one of them being Liverpool.
The Reds have reportedly been interested in signing the 24-year-old all summer long, with RMC Sport claiming that Jurgen Klopp has made signing the £63.2 million-rated ace (ESPN) his priority before the start of the new season.
Liverpool have a superb front three, but more competition for places is definitely required, especially with Daniel Sturridge having left the club earlier this summer on a free transfer.
And Pepe would be just the ticket.
He was on fire for Lille last season, racking up 23 goals and 12 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions, and he would add a certain level of potency to the Reds’ attacking play.
If Liverpool manage to beat the likes of Arsenal, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid in the race for the Ivory Coast international’s signature they will have a seriously good player on their hands.
And in today’s day and age, the reported fee of £63.2 million would represent excellent value for money.
