Leeds United hitman Kemar Roofe has been reportedly attracting the interest of Premier League duo, Brighton and Crystal Palace.
Kemar Roofe fell six short of hitting 20 goals for Leeds United last season as injuries played its part in the forward missing out on that milestone.
Despite not being amongst the best of the best in the Championship scoring charts, Roofe is still being recognised for his performances.
Sky Sports have reported that Premier League duo Crystal Palace and Brighton are keen on the 26-year-old’s signature this summer.
Firstly, Roofe would be making a huge mistake if he were to make a switch to either of those clubs because he could find himself swapping divisions with Leeds next season.
Both Brighton and Palace narrowly avoided relegation last season, and nothing during the summer transfer market suggests that things will improve in the up and coming campaign. Add that to the possibility that Leeds may well go one better next term and earn promotion.
Secondly, moving to a team like Palace wouldn’t suit his style of play. Roy Hodgson is a defensive-minded manager and Roofe needs to be playing in a more fluid and attacking system.
He has that at Elland Road, and with it he is also playing regular football and being played centerally, which is helping his game massivley.
That might not be the case at Palace or Brighton because given the tough nature of the Premier League, and Roofe’s versatility, he might find himself being deployed out wide when things aren’t going well.
Thirdly, at Leeds, he is working under the best manager in the division and Marcelo Bielsa has proven what he can do with the former West Brom man over 12 months.
Imagine what another 12 months under the Argentine coach will produce, not forgetting that if he can stay fully fit then under Bielsa he can surely hit 20+ next season.
